The world evolves around growth and transformation. We talk about being faster, better, and more effective. Inevitably, technology has also help shaped and change how we interact with the modern world we know today.
But what exactly is digital transformation, and what are the ingredients to make it happen? In my opinion, it simply starts with change and diversity.
The fundamentals said that change is constant, and I agree with that resonance. Our environment is characterized by change.
From the beginning of time, humans are curious creatures, we explore to make things better for ourselves, creating tools to simplify work and generating value out of it. This cycle of change evolves into what we know about our world today. So, Change has to be part of our DNA too. The best part is that Change doesn’t have to be complicated and it happens even without you knowing it.

Fast forward to the modern world, when we think about digital transformation, we overcomplicated the thought process, losing our cognitive ability. We start to think about investments, cool startups or the latest and greatest technology – etcetera, as part of the transformation roadmap.
We should be aware that all those success stories we heard are not encumbered by old thinking and bureaucracy to start. But the most important asset is actually diversity-spawned creativity: people at all levels of an organization (especially at the top) who work extremely well together and possess very different worldviews and ways of working.
Ok, but how do we create a safer, cohesive, and productive environment?
Diversity is like binaries of 1s and 0s, a good mix is always necessary to create a good code or program. You can’t function well with all 1s or 0s.
Today, Diversity will win the war for talents. Broadening the search term increases the sourcing talent pool. It definitely strengthens decision-making. Diversity fosters innovation and creativity through a greater variety of problem-solving approaches, perspectives, and ideas. Academic research has shown that diverse groups often outperform experts. Start simple-Females traditionally are the homemaker of the family, taking tasks from home economies in sewing, cooking, or other feminine works. Being in IT means sitting in front of a screen for 40 hours a week - and that wasn’t a good thing.
In the traditional world, information technology has always been a hashtag to the male species-for no good reasons. This can be changed simply with inclusion. Diversity with inclusion - it is a vital key responsibility for the management to not just have a strategy but an immersive one. Most companies understand the need for diversity and yet they failed. Why? Just like any program, a well-thought program that doesn’t have its users designed in mind will eventually phase out. Likewise, diversity needs the inclusion of people. Education needs to start from the top, they need to listen more and communicate effectively – to help and embrace employees to their full potential self. The people are at their best when they start to voice constructively, participate in the decision-making process – all these empowerments will create their sense of belonging towards the success of the company.
